The 2013 Kentucky EMS Conference and Expo Education Committee is seeking qualified presenters to submit presentations for their annual conference.
The conference audience includes emergency medical service (EMS) providers, managers, administrators, and allied health professionals involved in some aspect of emergency care in the Commonwealth of Kentucky as well as surrounding states. More than 400 people attended the 2012 Conference and the event continues to grow each year.
Conference attendees want to learn about unique, state of the art, cutting-edge subjects related to pre-hospital emergency medicine as well as to earn continuing education based on core medical and trauma topics.
Format & Session Length
Conference education sessions are offered in 1 hour blocks. Pre-Conference workshops are offered in 4 hour and 8 hour blocks on Tuesday, September 24.
Based on these interests, we are requesting proposals for innovative and unique topics, as well as core curriculum, for the following three conference tracks:
Clinical Core Knowledge: These sessions are geared to EMS providers or those who desire a challenge. The presentation may review core concepts and skills at the Paramedic, AEMT, EMT or RN level.
EMS Education Development: These sessions may include a variety of topics from enhancing presentation techniques to improving the learning environment with a special emphasis on educational technology. The presentation may include basic and advanced subjects for EMS managers, administrators, and EMS educators.
EMS Leadership: These sessions are geared to the current EMS manager/supervisor or those who may seek to advance their career to those levels. It may include topics addressing issues of importance such as reimbursement, disciplinary items or human resource issues.
Proposals will be reviewed and selected based upon the following criteria:
• Unique, cutting edge or timely subjects
• A complete description of the learning objectives
• Anticipated attendee interest in the subject matter
• Appropriateness for the conference tracks and/or session periods
• Participant interaction or format of the presentation
• Presentation experience of the educator
Submitting proposals for various topics may increase your chances of being selected as a conference presenter. You may submit as many proposals as you desire. Education sessions that include participant interaction are preferred.
To allow the Education Committee time to evaluate your presentation(s), please submit your proposal on our official Presentation Proposal form. A brief biological sketch of the presenter(s) should be included with your proposal.
Your complete proposal must be received by Monday, April 15, 2013 in order to be considered by the Conference Education Committee. You will receive an acknowledgment that your proposal has been received.
Selection and Confirmation
The Education Committee will review proposals and make selection decisions in April 2013. An acknowledgement will be sent to confirm the status of your presentation proposal(s) after this time.
Please use the online system to submit your proposals and a brief biographical. Each proposal must be submitted using our online submission system. Proposal not submitted using this system will not be considered.
