The EMT Recertification Packet is mailed to EMTs approximately 90 days prior to their certification expiring. When the application is received, it is to be completed and sent back to this office along with the renewal fee. The renewal fee is $20.00 and should be in the form of a money order made payable to Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services. Renewal requirements would have to be met before submission of the application and fee. Applications cannot be accepted for renewal unless received in this office or postmarked no later than the certification expiration date.

EMT Continuing Education Requirements

EMT Continuing Education Form
The EMT Continuing Education Form is provided to the EMT when receiving their latest ID card. This form details the requirements required for EMT renewal and is to be maintained by the EMT during the renewal cycle. The minimum requirements include:

  • Twenty-four (24) structured hours of continuing education;
  • Current CPR certification for the professional basic rescuer level; and
  • A current AIDS/HIV education course that includes a current KYCHS approval number and exact title of the curriculum.
